Midway through the month and so far it’s been a month full of bangers. No matter whether you’re reading this on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon, give this week’s roundup a listen and five tracks will have you ready for the weekend again.
Bringing you their second release of 2023 after a successful song with Fred Again, The Streets are back this time with a more upbeat tune. Troubled Waters is an upbeat garage yet suspenseful garage tune with Mike Skinner’s iconic vocals and is the first song released from the new album, the first to be released in 15 years. The announcement of this tune came with a new album, feature length film and even a tour. Luckily for Mancs they will be playing at O2 Victoria Warehouse – see you on the dancefloor!
Next we move on to a low-fi house, hip hop tune. Tommy Villiers and mustbejohn have just released To The Moon. A summer vibe, this one will be heard at daytime raves across the country. Expect ‘raving on the moon’ to be stuck in your head all day after giving this one a listen.
Disclosure are back with their sixth UK album Alchemy. It doesn’t feel like it’s been 10 years since the first album Settle was released, but time flies when you’re having fun and the lads have been doing just that, churning out banger after banger, and our pick off the album is no different. A tropical house tune, Looking For Love is a weekend banger, get someone to pass you the aux and watch the head bopping begin.
Now time for some afro beats, J Hus has teamed up with Naira Marley to release Militerian from J Hus’ new album Beautiful and Brutal Yard. Marley covers the hooks whilst J Hus does his usual lyrical flows, both work together seamlessly over a funky afro beat. Make sure you give this one a listen!
Finally, we have a Becky Hill and Chase & Status who have combined to release a hard hitting drum n bass tune. Disconnected is the name of the new track, and it reinforces Chase & Statuses trend of picking the perfect strong vocals to go over their beats like Liam Bailey singing over Blind Faith and Tom Grennan with All Goes Wrong, Becky Hill is no different in this new hard hitter.
