There isn’t much time left in June, but what’s on? Lots. There is still a tonne of entertainment to come Manchester’s way over the next two weeks. We are here to roundup the best acts coming up North across all sorts of music genres before we say goodbye to June.
First up we have the band behind the classic American rock tune Iris. The Goo Goo Dolls are playing at Manchester Academy supported by Welsh band Those Damn Crows, and are sure to put on a good show, as they usually do. I can certainly think of worse ways to spend a Friday night, although a bit steep at just under £40 a ticket plus booking fee considering you probably only know one song.
Goo Goo Dolls – Manchester Academy – Friday 23 June
I’m not sure about the Albert Hall’s food and drink policy but they going to have a crowd control job on their hands if they allow Kelis to bring milkshakes on 21 June. The international chart-topping artist will be bring the energy and good vibes whilst blasting out her classics Milkshake, Millionaire and Acapella. This one isn’t to be missed.
Kelis – Albert Hall – Wednesday 21 June
Just down the road, Blue’s Kitchen are putting on a very unique show. Rhianna’s ‘Anti’ album is going to be performed by a Manchester’s Untold Orchestra on Friday 23 June in the Concert Hall. Complete with sting, brass, percussion and vocalists the orchestra are going to put on a spectacle. At £16.50 a ticket though, it seems unlikely that Rhianna will be joining them on stage.
Rihanna: Anti – Performed by a Live Orchestra – Blues Kitchen – 23 June
Heavy metal fans will love this one. Iron Maiden are seeing off June by visiting Manchester as a part of ‘The Future Past Tour’. If its anything like the recent reviews, Bruce Dickinson is on top form and proves that age is just a number and is calling just as much mayhem as usual. The mosh pits should be intense for this one so you may want to bring your shoulder pads.
Iron Maiden – AO Arena – 30 June
The final music event in this list is a personal favourite of mine, Hunee is playing at YES in a WHP + Repercussion event. Hunee has been keeping Manchester dancing for years with his house and techno tunes and is back in YES’s Pink Room having last played in Manchester at Repercussion Festival last September. He is joined behind the decks by Krysko who is the resident DJ at Warehouse Project, and put it this way, you cant become a resident at one of the UK’s biggest club nights if you don’t bring the vibes.
