Taking the first kitchen residency at Side Street Studio and located around the corner from us at St John’s, Dainā is a new dining concept from chefs Jake Huxley and Samuel Jethro, which combines their love of Asian cuisine and the science of dough making to bring a menu of small plates and handmade bao buns.
Officially opening on the 30 November, Dainā complements Side Street Studio’s creative come-and-go ethos, adding some must-try dishes to help spark creativity.
The specialist bao buns are a sight to behold. Each picture-perfect bun including either; mala beef shin with scallion slaw, potato patty with preserved mustard and pickled chilli or tempura haddock with miso tartare and buttered radish.
The small plate highlights include tiger skin peppers, red braised pork belly, smoked mackerel and a baked aubergine with black pepper tofu. Dishes are well priced too with baos from £5.50 and small plates starting at £8 making it a great spot for a casual bite.
