Manchester’s fashion creds have been rising in recent years thanks to the likes of Represent, Clints and Pretty Little Thing, but whilst the city is home to many up-and-coming brands, the streets of Manchester are also no stranger to incredible vintage wear with some of best places to buy pre-loved garms located in the city centre. With loads to choose from, here’s our round-up of the best.
Gone Fishing Vintage
Set up by Sebastian Dixon in 2016, Gone Fishing Vintage has quickly become a staple in the Northern Quarter. It sources the high-quality second-hand garments from around the world, with a special interest in stocking Italian designer clothing. Styled like a high-end fashion boutique, Gone Fishing stocks everything from Prada and Burberry to Supreme and Stone Island, so it’s well worth a look.
Permanent Orbit
On the other side of town in the ABC Building at St John‘s, you will find Permanent Orbit. Now, you could spend hours shopping in just two shops at this end of town, with it being next door to one of Manchester’s most exciting fashion brands in Clints.
Permanent Orbit specially curates unisex vintage clothing and sourced homeware to its style, which includes some of the very best worn-in denim, graphic tees and hats.
Cow
Cow is known across the country for supplying some of the best pre-loved clothing around, with stores in most major cities including Liverpool, London and Birmingham it’s fair to say it knows a thing or two about vintage garms offering quality clothing going back to the 60s. Its city centre store, like Gone Fishing, is also located in the Northern Quarter on Church Street, offering a sustainable alternative to fast fashion.
Charity Super.Mkt
The latest vintage store to open on the list, Charity Super.Mkt has opened in Quayside shopping centre at Media City. A first of its kind, the new opening offers the chance for national and local charities to collaborate on a multi-charity physical retail store. You’ll be able to find a huge array of brands all in one place, but you’ll need to be quick with this one as its only here until the 13 December.
Oxfam Originals
If you can get past the musty smell synonymous with charity shops, Oxfam Originals is a gem on Oldham Street. In the heart of the Northern Quarter, the shop has hand selected, pre-loved, designer clothing, which means you can easily pick up some of the best brands at charity shop prices.
Bags of Flavour
Finally, another Northern Quarter favourite, this time on Tib Street is Bags of Flavour. One of the oldest vintage stores in the city centre, it first opened its doors in 1993 and has been curating the perfect collection of vintage brands ever since.
