The Beer Necessities: Six of the best Manchester beers for Autumn

As summer draws to an end, some Manchester breweries haven’t quite got the message yet, and a sensational range of summer beers have been launched, here are six of the best Manchester beers.

First up is Manchester favourite Cloudwater with Tax Haven, aptly named as it falls within the government’s new lower tax for beers 3.4% abv or less. Even with the lower percentage, it’s packed with tropical notes thanks to the triple hopping rate. This one combines Strata, Talus and NZ Cascade hops, and is a must try!

Track is known for releasing sensational beer, after sensational beer and we can’t wait to drink more Stay There All Galaxy DIPA. The cloudy pale colour of this beer is a thing of beauty, packed full of fruity notes of pineapple and grapefruit. Watch out for this one, it looks like an easy drinker, but at 8% – it’s lethal.

Pomona Island is begging to keep a hold of summer by paying homage to by undoubtedly the worst part of summer – sand. Perfectly named, I Don’t Like Sand, is a crispy West Coast Pale. Not many more chances to take a cool can of this outside, so make sure you grab the chance whilst you… can!

First Chop has a number of releases of late and this one is our pick. Ode Golden has a real Sunday afternoon in Autumn feel about it, hops include British Challenger and Bramling Cross giving it a bitter, floral and earthy flavour. Incredibly drinkable sitting at just 4%.

Shindigger look to have brewed up something special with La Decima. Traditionally La Decima was given to Real Madrid winning their 10th Champions League, but far more impressive is Shindigger launching this to celebrate its 10th year in operation. The new beer is an easy drinking juicy IPA loaded with Nectaron, Citra Cryo and Idaho 7 hops – a must buy.

Finally, we have Sureshot which has released ‘Is It About My Cube?’. A double dry hopped IPA that is fruity, bitter and earthy, everything you want from a DDH IPA. Make sure you pick one up online or even better still, head down to their taproom behind Piccadilly and soak up some atmosphere. Happy drinking.
