Padel, the sport loved by the world’s most famous faces like Pep Guardiola, Lionel Messi and Andy Murray is set to open in central Manchester.

The high energy sport is a combination of tennis and squash, like tennis with a net in the middle of two doubles teams and like squash as it’s in an enclosed court by walls where players can hit it off any wall into the other side of the court. Padel is growing, and growing fast, a huge phenomenon in Europe and the rest of the world with an estimated 20,000 courts in Spain, 10,000 in Argentina, 5,000 in Italy and growing across most countries.

As it stands Manc’s has only been able to access the phenomenon by taking a trip down to leafy Wilmslow. The exciting news for Manc’s is, there will be four brand new courts on the doorstep.Club de Padel is will open at Deansgate Square later this summer operating seven days a week. It will be offering everything from social matches for experienced players, coaching sessions, tournaments you can sign up for and even corporate events if you fancy getting one over on your boss. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go and spend an arm and a leg on new gear, they are offering racket and ball rental, as well as convenient booking through the dedicated app.

David Blake, one of the co-founders, expressed his excitement, stating: “Ever since we first encountered padel in Barcelona several years ago, we have been eager to bring this amazing sport to Manchester. It’s great fun, highly sociable, and easy to pick up, making it an ideal fit for Deansgate Square.”

Fellow co-founder Matt McKinlay added: “It’s just so addictive; everyone who plays padel loves it right away. The city centre location is ideal for both residents and professionals seeking a new way to socialise and network. The sense of community is of utmost importance to us at Club de Padel. We want people of all ages, from school kids to young professionals and older residents, to come along and give padel a try.”

Bookings begin from August, you’ll be able to play in the generous opening hours of 7am-10pm Monday-Sunday.
