Looking for some wholesome activities you can do? Or fancy trying something new? Manchester is one of the UK’s leading creative cities so there are loads of things you can get stuck in to. Here are our top five picks of recurring creative nights in the city.

First on our list we have The Space Poetic, this monthly poetry exhibition and performance night is next happening at Terrace in the Northern Quarter on 29 October from 6-8pm. It is free to enter and features a wide variety of creatives sharing their art, poetry and energy. Attendees are encouraged to share their own work, so if you’re an aspiring poet looking for an environment to share your work, then this is the event for you.

Next up we have Heads Creative. Heads was founded a few years back and with it a community that brings together creatives from across the city. Its runs everything from art classes to photography afternoons which bring together up-and-coming photographers with models who are looking to update their portfolio. To read more about Heads, see our interview with the founders here.

Another creative outlet is Life Drawing With Hop. Set up by Lisa Payne it brings communities together for drawing, eating cheese, drinking wine and socialising. The events have been running ever since and they take place all over the city throughout the year, all of which involve drawing a professional nude model in a relaxed and arty environment. All materials are provided for you, and it is tailored to be beginner friendly. So, if this is something you have ever thought you would be interested in, then there is no time like the present to give it a go.

If you are a fan of painting and drinking then this next experience is perfect for you, Paint Away hold ‘paint and sip’ classes every weekend in Manchester. It offers budding artists the chance to paint a variety of different classics, icons and animals within a relaxed, social setting. Tickets are £29.99 and the events take place within various restaurants and bars within the city, get down if art, food and drink are your kind of thing.

Finally, we have one of the city’s most established open mic nights, running Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7pm at The Whiskey Jar on Tariff Street. This has been going on for eight years now and is free to enter, you just need to sign up. So, if you’re a budding musician then it is a great place to meet likeminded people and express yourself on stage.
