Gail’s opens on King Street

After making its North West debut in Altrincham and Wilmslow, the infamous London Bakery, Gail’s, has finally opened a site in Manchester city centre on King Street so you can now indulge in some of the best fresh baked goods. But it’s not without some tough competition, there’s Trove, Pollen, Loaf, Gooey and 14 Greggs in the city centre to name but a few.

The new café is set over two floors and with seats outside you can dine al fresco on the few sunny days Manchester gets and embrace la dolce vita (that’s the extent to my Italian skills so don’t expect anymore)!

To bring the exterior of Gail’s to life, the brand has teamed up with local Manc Amy Coney to cover the front in stunning hand painted murals, because let’s face it, croissant content is king.

Now to the bakes, the real reason you’re reading this. On first look at the counter, it’s quite a mad experience, trying to guess the difference between all the pastries and what the hell a ‘soho bun’ is. All that you know is that it hits different, everything on the counter looks like Cedric Grolet is going to pop his head up after finishing a TikTok video.

From croissants and cinnamon buns to the more niche pistachio, lemon and rose cake, this place has most of the sweet pasties you can think of and then some. For those with less of sweet tooth, Gail’s sandwich and savoury pastry game is not lacking, sausage rolls, sandwiches, bagels, quiches all on another level. You’ll also struggle to miss the bread wall, all freshly baked, and who knows you might run into Molly Mae making the King Street site her new Instagram backdrop as she has done in Altrincham.

In a nice touch Gails has joined Eat Well MCR with its mission to provide meals to Manchester’s people in need through the restaurant backed charity scheme.
