This city is brimming with music, and from large stadiums like the AO Arena, right down to intimate rave venues like Gorilla, there is something for everyone. So, saying that, here’s 5 of the best gigs in April.

Who: The Happy Mondays

When: 4 April

Manchester legends The Happy Mondays return with their first tour in five years, entitled ‘The Been There Done That Tour’. They are also joined by fellow Mancunians Inspiral Carpets, ensuring that anyone who longs for a feel of 1990’s Madchester can be offered a glimpse into that past, even if just for one night.

Super-popular indie-rock artist Declan McKenna is touring in support of his third album ‘What Happened To The Beach?’. This comes after his second album which debuted in the UK album chart at number two. He has songs such as ‘British Bombs’ and ‘Brazil’ which are both critical of different issues and have both gained the artist widespread attention.

Trance icon Markus Schulz comes to Manchester for a special all night long set, the acclaimed selector, who is a three-time winner of ‘America’s best DJ’, comes to the city to show off his unique blend of Trance, Progressive and Techno.

Who: Halina Rice

When: 27 April

Where: Gorilla

Acclaimed producer Halina Rice will be in Manchester at the end of the month with her unique show which has drawn commendations from publications such as Clash, Decoded and Electronic Sound. Her live sets are described as ‘part rave, part art happening, blending emotive electronic music with impactful mixed reality visuals and bespoke lightshow the performance unites art, music and tech to deliver a mesmerising experience.’

Noughties RnB icon, Akon, is coming to Manchester on the last day of the month as a part of his ‘Superfan’ Tour. Expect to hear all the classics including Mr Lonely and Locked Up, and be quick to grab a ticket as he is here for one night, and one night only.
