Chase and Status at their Boiler Room set, their new song is featured on the tracks of the week

Festival season is in full swing and top artists from around the world have released music this week ahead of their upcoming gigs. The calibre of new records released this week has been next level with the likes Tyler The Creator, James Bay and Cardi B all missing out on our top picks. Here are the five tracks that made the list.

First up, one of the rising stars on the Manchester music scene. Originally from Chorlton, Akemi Fox has just released ‘check in with u’, an easy listener for those of you having a slow weekend.

We can’t believe it’s been nine months since Chase and Status played their legendary Boiler Room set which will go down as one of the all-time greats. Gunfinger (Salute) is their new tune of the week made with IRAH. One for those of you heading to a rave this weekend.

Singer-songwriters and country musicians are having their moment in 2024. Rex Orange County is one of the most exciting artists in that space, and his new record Guitar Song solidifies that.

Another relatively local artist with a track we just had to put in this week’s top releases is Tom Walker. Holy Ghost features his usual powerful vocals and you can catch it live in November when he plays at the Co-op Live.

Finally, two artists who have put on memorable performances in Manchester over the last year have collabed. Sampha and Little Simz have released Satellite Business 2.0. The record is the sequel to Sampha’s original Satellite Business, and in our opinion the addition of Little Simz elevates it to the next level, give it a listen.
