The O2 Apollo in Manchester is hosting Paul Weller in November gigs

With the nights drawing in and cold in the air, winter is the perfect time to throw yourself into a sweat box and release some endorphins as you dance the night away. With loads going on across the City in November, here are Union’s picks of November gigs.

Paul Weller – 02 Apollo

Friday 1 November

A man who needs no introduction and one of the most respected musicians this country has ever produced, The Style Council and The Jam is in Manchester for the first time in two years. Known for hits such as Town Called Malice, My Ever Changing Moods and Wild Wood, Weller has released 17 solo records alongside receiving four Brit Awards, including Best British Male three times, and the 2006 Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

It’s a chance to see him in a relatively small venue compared to some of the festivals he’s played at in the past so it’s definitely worth going to if you can.

DEADLETTER – Band on the Wall

Friday 8 November

One of the most exciting bands around at the minute with support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, DIY, Metro and NME who have sold out shows across the UK and Europe are on their biggest tour to date.

Their debut album was released last year and the tunes have inspiration from the likes of Gang of Four and Talking Heads which explore the darker side of existence. There is a really strong grit to their sound but also is easy to dance to and catchy. The music video for Binge has rocked up just under 120k views on Youtube and it’s obvious to see why.

English Teacher – 02 Ritz

Thursday 14 November

Fresh from just winning the Mercury Prize, this is the hottest ticket in town if you can get your hands on one. A band who have clearly worked tirelessly to craft their unique alt-rock sound with smart lyrics. They’ve just added another date in London after selling out Shepherd’s Bush Empire so be quick if you fancy it.

Since forming in 2020 at Leeds Conservatoire, the band have gone from strength to strength with appearances on Jools Holland and signing to Island Records, releasing their first album this year. Support comes from TTSFU who are also headlining YES Basement on November 29th.

Courteeners – Co-Op Live

Friday 15 November

Manchester legends Courteeners are back in their hometown to play at Co-Op Live for the first time following news of their forthcoming seventh album Pink Cactus Cafe. It’s the band’s first record in four years and they will be touring it after its release on 25th October. Frontman Liam Fray has said that “it’s the best set of tunes since our first album” with fans excited about how it will sound.

Having played all the big venues all over the city, indoor and outdoor this is another one for them to tick off. Support comes from DMAs whose last two albums have reached the top five in the UK and Scotland.

Blossoms – Various O2 locations

20-23 November

Blossoms are gracing Manchester with three shows in November following their headliner at Wythenshawe Park, you can read more about that night here. They’re set to take over the O2 Ritz, O2 Victoria Warehouse and O2 Apollo.

This is the first tour since their recently released album ‘Gary’ so you can expect to hear all the hits from that as well as classics like Charlamagne.

Fontaines DC – Aviva Studios

29 November – 1 December
