Whether your idea of a trip away is exploring a new city, relaxing in the sun on a beach, or just enjoying as much booze as possible, we have holiday inspiration for you, all of which fly from Manchester Airport. Check out these three weekend breaks for April that won’t break your bank account.
For city breaks that is close to home but still immersed in culture, Belgium’s capital city, Brussels is the place for you. For Friday 26 April to Monday 29 April, you can get flights for £31 and a hotel for two people easily for £250 for all three nights. The flights also take under an hour and a half, so there is no need to worry about spending half your day on a cramped aeroplane. This journey actually works out to be quicker than travelling to London from Manchester on the train, which is all the more reason to get yourself abroad.
Brussels is known for some brilliant things, it is the home of Belgian waffles, Belgian chocolate shops and the best French fries you’ve tasted (which actually originate from Belgium). The city also has a wide variety of famous beers brewed in the country such as Stella Artois, Blue Moon, Leffe and Jupiler, with the average price of a half-litre being around €5.
If that isn’t your thing, and you would rather just relax in the sun and enjoy a cocktail, then look no further than Corfu. If you decide to travel on Friday 19 April and return Sunday 21 April, you can pick up flights for £77, for two of you. £60 per night can get you a lovely studio apartment near a beach on the sunny Greek island. That gives you plenty of pocket change to work with in order to relax on one of its many beautiful beaches and soak up the sun with a cocktail in hand.
The average peak weather in Corfu at that time of year is 19 degrees Celsius, so it’s not ideal weather for topping up your tan or lying on the beach, but Corfu is an island teeming with history and contains many ancient ruins of temples, tombs, and long-destroyed cities, so is a must-see for history fans. Corfu Town and Kassiopi are our pick of the bunch for this out of season visit, with other traditional holiday resorts not really picking up until late May.
If you prefer your weekend breaks to be about cheap drinks and packed clubs, then Prague is your answer. With the price of a half-litre of beer averaging at around Kč73 (£2.50 in the UK), you can be sure that you will get your money’s worth when it comes to drinking. The city is a notorious stag and hen do hotspot with plenty of bars and clubs to satisfy even the hardest of partiers.
For the weekend of the 13-15 April, you can get flights for two people for £69 and a hotel room for just £150 total. That is a bargain when you consider the cheap drinks and the fact an average meal over there will usually set you back around £10 or less.
Prague is a city filled with history and culture such as its beautiful Old Town, which connects to the Charles Bridge that passes over the Vltava River and subsequently leads to the world-famous John Lennon wall, which was first adorned with a mural of the artist following his assassination in 1980.
There you have it, three distinctly different breaks to accommodate all types of holiday-goers. So, whatever your idea of a weekend away is, we have you covered on a budget. Get out there and enjoy yourself this April.
