For the second time in three years, the men’s team have found themselves in a Euros final. Whether you think they deserve it or not, it’s time to get behind the lads and cheer them on to a better result than three years ago. To get everyone in the mood, we’ve picked the top five England songs we will be blasting all weekend ahead of Sunday night.
First up we have the most iconic of all England song, Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home) by Baddiel, Skinner and Liverpool band Lightning Seeds. With an indistinguishable fan cheering start to the song, it’s tough not to get nervous ahead of Sunday listening to this one.
Another one that will roll back the years is Fat Les with Vindaloo. One of the catchier England tunes, Vindaloo was release ahead of the France 1998 World Cup, and despite its interesting choice of lyrics has become a cult classic for many England fans.
Not all the best England songs were released back in the 90’s. Atomic Kitten remixed their Whole Again with a special ode to manager Gareth Southgate. Southgate You’re the One has become a massive song for England fans and this weekend is the perfect time to blast it out to rally around the England manager in what may be his last ever tournament in the top job.
You can’t have a top England tunes list without including World In Motion by Manc band New Order featuring the iconic John Barnes rap. It was released in 1990, leading England to a semi-final ending and was the closest we had been to a winning tournament since the 1966 World Cup win.
Finally, we have a non-footballing song but has become synonymous with watching the Three Lions play tournament football. That is of course, Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline. This one gets the crowd singing no matter where it is played and is certainly getting us in the mood for Sunday night.
