Manchester kicked off the year with some memorable music moments from the opening of the Co-op Live to mega performances from the likes of The 1975, Ne-Yo and of course the Union launch party. Anyway, enough with the past, we’re on to the future – here are the best gigs for June.

Pet Shop Boys are included in Manchester's June gigs

Where: Co-op Live

Established as ‘the UK’s most successful duo’ Pet Shop Boys have had an electric career spanning three decades and performing to millions of people across the globe. Now, they come to Manchester to perform their greatest hits. Fans of the electro-pop pioneers won’t want to miss this.

Liam Gallagher is due to play at the Co-Op Live

Possibly the biggest ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll star’ that this city has ever produced, Liam is performing Oasis’ debut studio album ‘Definitely Maybe’ in full for the first time, celebrating 30 years since it was released. Described by Liam as ‘the most important album of the 90s bar none’ the sets will be packed with hits from the album, as well as some songs from it that have rarely been performed this millennium.

Who: Courtney Barnett

Where: Band on the Wall

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Bartnett is an ‘emblem of millennial wit’ with brilliantly crafted lyrics and guitar playing which explores everyday fragments of life which, if left in the hands of other artists, would remain uninteresting. Bartnett is a powerhouse performer, with her name on the roster at international festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, and Lollapalooza, so to catch her at an intimate venue like this is a performance you will remember forever.

Who: CSS

Where: Gorilla

Brazilian lo-fi, dance-rock, freewheeling group CSS come to Gorilla this June. The band are known for their energetic shows, with an off-the-wall dress sense and lively atmosphere. They have been active for almost twenty years now so definitely know how to perform for a crowd, any fans of alternative music and extravagant performances should definitely check this out.

North-West band The Mysterines are celebrating the release of their latest album ‘Afraid Of Tomorrows’ with an intimate performance and album signing in the Arndale’s HMV store. The bands style has been described as a mix of alternative rock and grunge with NME stating that ‘few bands in Britain are doing it better right now’. If you are interested in picking up the album then definitely find your way down to this show and get it signed, as well as seeing a live show along with it.
